Title of the Anime: Gankutsuou

Anime Genre: Sci Fi, Drama, Romance

How many episodes: 24

Your Ranking: Must See

The Good:
The most compelling part of this anime is the plot. It is based off the classic novel 'The Count of Monte Cristo'. Although it's based on a story many already know, there are enough twists from the original and a different setting that it will catch your attention and keep you wanting to learn more of the mystery. Also this deviants by taking the view of the prey (Albert) instead of the hunter (the Count).

The Bad:
The artistic style of this anime is unique. It seems that you will either like it and think its great or not care for it to much. As for me, I found it distracting at times and not to my liking. There were an occasional cool effects with it like Haydée's hair or Eugénie's hair at her concert.

Good review, gonna have to watch it again and finish it this time. Was trying to watch it with Japanese audio and English subs, and at some point with the animation style and how fast the plot was flying by I would get lost. Not that its a bad animation style, its just something you want to enjoy in my opinion and not have reading the subs the entire time. Count of Monte Cristo is one of my favorite movies of all time.
