It is finally here and so far it is pretty sweet, first panel I went to was a AMV Comedy panel. The videos were pretty sweet, will have to find some of them online to add them to my collection.

Such a huge con this year, so much going on. Had lunch at TGI Fridays and then sat in on a how to get into drawing manga that was fun. After that I got a signed picture of Levar Burton, there were many options of photos, but I went with the LaForge outfit early years.

I will post pics later or after the con.

Phonenix ComiCon Day One
At the end of day one I am still feeling pretty excited about  the Con. Overall there were many great things to see and do on day one, great panels, great artists. The pricing for the the art had a wide range from great prices to HOLY COW! There were also many comics / figures / bags / stuff to buy that related to anything your geeky heart could want.

There were a couple of things that slowed the fun, there were two panels that got the rooms flipped, even on the displays in front of the door. The other thing was at the Hyatt events, both the Wil Wheaton Rockband and Anime Rave started late, way late. In addition to both starting late the lines were long and at times not sure where the lines were going, the Anime Rave line wound around a freaking heat lamp area.

Once in the rave, it was pretty cool event, hung there for awhile and then wanted to check out the Rockband event, but the line had not even started to go in.

For day two I am going to try to check out a voice actor panel and the Start Trek TNG Reunion.

The con day one was a lot of fun. I had a great time being amazed by all the talent of the artist that were there. I did wonder how much of a competition it was among them though. At one point I stopped to look at at table of artwork between two crowds of people looking at two other artist. The look of excitement this artist showed that someone was at his table was pretty noticeable.

I laughed pretty good at the Will Wheaton awesome hour. Hopefully we can track down a copy of that to post here for all to enjoy. Along with the laughs, he gives some great insight into being a geek and that gaming can serve more as a bridge between the youth and adults then society gives them credit for.

The con after hours was a bit lacking in my opinion due to events described by Vega above. No matter though, I am off for round two here soon. Catch you on the other side.

Phoenix ComiCon Day Two/Three
Day two was very good as well, some good panels and of course some failures in lines and timetables. There was a good panel on how to draw sexy women put on by Armand V., I cannot remember his last name at this time but he does the comic Jinn. The TNG Reunion was pretty cool, I think you could tell that after many times that they have appeared they are getting bored with some of the standard questions they keep getting and so they were cracking jokes and taking control of the panel. Overall it was really good in my opinion, I liked the way it went, my favorite part was where Wil made a comment on about someones questioning something that was not based on real life that appeared in Star Trek. I will have to try to find the clip and post it. Same as day one day two ended with a failure to get into an event that we tried to, the Geek Prom, I knew there was a fee to get in, but no where was there any advertisement as to you having to buy the tickets early or where to get them. But the Anime Rave was better than the first night and went really well, i enjoyed it.

Day three was way slower overall, although I did meet Wil Wheaton and Felicia Day to get their autographs, that was pretty sweet. Then I went to a panel on how to get a gamer, I will post more on this later on in the dating advice thread. Final thing I did was go to another panel Wil Wheaton and another blogger, I left after a few minutes, it was just not that funny so I went home.

Overall it was a great con and am looking forward to the next one, I might even go to the Saboten Con in October, just need to see how far it is. I did not get many pics, but will put up what I got later today or tomorrow.
